Teacher: The constant threat of layoffs hurts schools

A teacher whose job was spared writes in this blog post that there is a cost to layoffs and pink slips occurring at schools nationwide. Heather Wolpert-Gawron writes that many talented, young teachers are let go and other teachers are forced to compete against their colleagues to keep their jobs. For those who are spared, the annual threat of layoffs is always looming. "That threat is not in the best interests of education," she writes.
