$500M casino complex could become a reality in Philadelphia

Developer Bart Blatstein wants to convert a downtown Philadelphia building that houses The Philadelphia Inquirer and the Philadelphia Daily News into a 200-room hotel that would be part of a $500 million casino and entertainment complex. "This will be more than just a casino, it will be an entertainment destination that has the power to spark a new explosion of growth and investment in Philadelphia," Blatstein said. State Sen. John C. Rafferty Jr. questions the need for a second casino in Philadelphia and intends to introduce legislation that would only allow 13 instead of 14 casino operation licenses to be approved in the state.
