Smartphone app gives Ford's Focus Electric a charge

Ford recently demonstrated its Focus Electric car, a $39,200 vehicle that includes the MyFord mobile application, which provides information about the car's mechanical status and allows owners to issue charging instructions to the vehicle. The system, which the automaker says enables users to keep the car's operating costs down to about 4 cents a mile, also links with a MapQuest app that locates charging stations and helps drivers plan trips.
