Students with unpaid lunch tabs served alternative meals

School nutrition professionals in Hancock County, Miss., have begun serving students an alternative meal if they are behind in their meal payments. On Tuesday, 88 alternative meals were served, and by Thursday, the number had dropped to eight -- an indication that parents were settling the accounts, officials said. However, the new policy has drawn criticism from some, including a grandmother who said the replacement meals are embarrassing to students.
