Economists give sunny first-quarter forecast, but fear feds may rain on parade

Economists are predicting strong first-quarter growth for 2004 resulting from an increase in consumer spending, rising factory orders and a job market that appears to be on the rebound. The one big downside to all the encouraging news, however, is concern that the Federal Reserve will begin to raise interest rates in the summer or early fall to prevent the economy from surging ahead too fast.
