FDA approves GSK's drug for skin infection

The FDA approved GlaxoSmithKline's Altabax for treating the skin infection impetigo, caused by the staphylococcus and streptococcus bacteria. The drug is the first in a new class of prescription tropical antibacterial to be approved by FDA in almost 20 years. GSK also is seeking European approval of Altabax.
