Top five sugar, ethanol firms to dominate 80% of market by 2013

Cosan, Brazil's largest producer of sugar, says a trend of mergers and acquisitions in the sugar and ethanol industries will lead to the top five industry firms controlling 80% of the market by 2013. Cosan, which just acquired a smaller sugar and ethanol company, predicted greater consolidation will occur as the top five firms in the industry grow from 75 million metric tons of sugar crushed now to about 536 million metric tons within six years.
