Debate expected over Denver's invoice payment legislation

Denver city officials are opposing a bill in the Colorado House requiring that construction contractors be paid within 25 to 60 days after receipt of an invoice for private or public sector work. City officials said the bill would undermine Denver's ability to enforce prevailing-wage rules, but supporters said the legislation is needed because Denver is one of Colorado's biggest offenders in terms of timely payment to contractors.
