Missouri town to rely completely on wind power

Rock Port, Mo., will soon be the first town in the U.S. powered entirely by wind. On Friday, officials plan to throw the switch that will bring the Loess Hills Wind Farm online with enough power -- 16 million kilowatt hours a year -- to meet all of the town's energy needs. Rock Port's municipal electrical system will tap directly into the wind farm, and excess capacity will be shifted to a system shared by other electric cooperatives in the area.
