Telecoms make big network investments in 2007

Telecoms bought $36 billion worth of equipment last year, with purchases of optical-transport and router equipment leading the surge -- Dell'Oro calculated that spending has not been this high since 2000. Cisco, Alcatel-Lucent, Nokia Siemens Networks and Nortel Networks were the big winners among vendors.
