Vitamin D, calcium combo linked to colon cancer prevention

Research finds a combination of vitamin D and calcium may have anti-colon cancer benefits by increasing levels of the protein Bax, which in turn plays a role in controlling programmed cell death in the colon. High levels of the combination also are linked to higher levels of E-cadherin, which may play a part in the movement and proliferation of colon cells.
