FAA working with fuel makers to get the lead out by 2015

If Congress approves its proposed 2011 budget, the Federal Aviation Administration says it will spend $10 million to create an unleaded aviation fuel for piston-powered aircraft. The long-range goal is to get the lead out of avgas, the last remaining fuel source of lead pollution in America, according to the General Aviation Manufacturers Association.
