Companies should consider closing certain deferred-compensation plans by year-end in advance of income and capital gains tax increases to come, experts say. At the same time, executives due to receive the accrued benefits should consider where they'll invest the cash and also the tax implications of their accelerated bonuses. "Individuals need to avoid the knee-jerk reaction of 'I just need to get my money now' and think about the fact that deployment costs will be higher," says William Dunn of PricewaterhouseCoopers.
