NYC plans $220M redevelopment of Governors Island park

New York City plans to launch a redesign and redevelopment of Governors Island as an urban park. Beginning in 2012, the city will start work on the $220 million project. The plans -- by Dutch firm West 8 -- include terraces, boardwalks, marshland, a hammock grove, mountainscapes and views of the Manhattan skyline.
