Advances in solar-power technology

Rooftop installations of solar panels have gained traction across the country, but new technologies could change that. The Willis tower in Chicago and the Solaire building in New York have included photovoltaic panels as part of their facades, while an Australian company is in the process of developing a "dye solar technology" that can generate energy through "artificial photosynthesis." The company plans to combine the solar dye with steel to construct roofs of industrial facilities and reduce the costs for solar rooftop installations.
