Electronics heavyweights plan recycling effort

Best Buy, Panasonic, Sony and Toshiba are teaming up to go beyond state rules on recycling. The electronics giants have pledged to annually recycle 1 billion pounds of electronics by 2016. The Consumer Electronics Association called its initiative a "unique industry-led approach" that "transcends the patchwork of current state recycling regulations with an aggressive set of industry goals and standards."
