Obama rejects GOP entitlement plans but seeks reduced spending

President Barack Obama on Wednesday rejected a plan by House Republicans to turn Medicare into a voucher program and give states control of Medicaid, but he called for reducing entitlement spending $480 billion over 12 years through reductions in the cost of care and building on the Affordable Care Act. Obama supported giving more power to a Medicare advisory board looking at payment issues and expanding drug rebates for low-income elderly.
