Privacy bill raises hackles in ad community

Over the past few years, advertising trade groups have joined forces to develop an industry-based policy for regulating online data collection and consumer privacy, so the announcement of a new privacy bill in the Senate raised concerns among industry advocates. Some are concerned that the proposal from Sens. John Kerry, D-Mass., and John McCain, R-Ariz., gives too much authority to the Federal Trade Commission.
