Report: Comcast, NBCU look to challenge ESPN on sports front

Comcast, reportedly looking to develop a sports powerhouse that can challenge ESPN, is using its NBCUniversal unit to explore various partnerships with college sports teams, the National Hockey League and the International Olympic Committee, according to this article. The Comcast/NBCU entity apparently is most interested in sports properties that will take advantage of its cable and broadcast platforms.
