How inclusive programs could help close the gender gap in academia

Including men in policy programs on childcare and other family issues can help close the gender gap in higher education, writes Cate Macinnis-Ng, a senior research fellow in the School of Environment at the University of Auckland in New Zealand. In this blog post, she reflects on how men would have benefited from the networking and sharing at a recent conference. "Excluding men from such activities can build resentment that women receive special treatment when men also face significant obstacles while building their careers, especially when a young family is involved," Macinnis-Ng writes.
