IMF prepares to cut U.S. growth prediction

The International Monetary Fund is expected to cut its 2013 growth outlook for the U.S. to 1.7%, from 2%, citing automatic spending cuts and continued political impasse over the budget. The likely upshot of this and other indicators pointing to a spring economic slowdown is that the Federal Reserve "will be more cautious about sending signals that it is preparing to ease back on policy stimulus," Markit Group economist Chris Williamson said.
