Popular snack items could be on the chopping block in schools

As the U.S. Agriculture Department works toward establishing guidelines regulating the amount of fat, sugar and calories in snacks served in schools, some foodservice directors say they are concerned the changes could affect sales. Some parents in Montgomery County, Md., who have formed an advocacy group to improve students' access to healthy food at school, say they welcome the changes and want more limits on artificial dyes and processed foods.
