Experts: Energy majors need to be more nimble for more profitable shale investments

In recent months, energy majors such as Royal Dutch Shell and BP have encountered challenges in developing major U.S. shale plays, unlike independent players in the industry. To succeed in the shale business, a company must have "a relentless focus on productivity," said BHP Billiton's North American shale production president, Rod Skaufel. Edward Jones analyst Brian Youngberg said companies must be more nimble by restructuring their shale businesses.
