TiVo's new CMO wants to keep the brand relevant

TiVo's new marketing chief said the DVR pioneer faces a major challenge in convincing consumers to consider alternative sources of video and recording services other than what they receive through pay-TV providers and their set-top boxes. Ira Bahr, who held the same post at DISH Network from 2009 to 2011, said TiVo will lighten its focus on reaching cable and satellite operators in favor of increased consumer marketing. "TiVo has been a little better on the technology side than they have on the marketing," Bahr said.
