USDA weighs reporting requirements for PEDv

PEDv takes a heavy toll on piglets.

The USDA has been talking with the American Association of Swine Veterinarians about possibly requiring reporting of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus in an effort to acquire better data regarding the devastating disease and help prevent its spread. PEDv, which is deadly for piglets, entered the country through unknown channels and has infiltrated swine herds in 30 states so far.
