Column: Airlines seem to be winning battle with GDSs

During the airline-GDS contract negotiating season in 2006, Air Canada started publishing some fares exclusively on its own Web site because it said GDSs were not able to appropriately display them. The move sparked a turning point in the battle between the two entities, with airlines appearing to come out on top. Travel Weekly columnist Arnie Weissmann explains how that led to the current relationship between carriers and GDSs.
