Senators: FDA "seriously underfunded"

Senators of both parties said Tuesday that the budget increase the White House proposed for the FDA was not sufficient. When a Republican on the Appropriations Committee pressed him to estimate how much more money the agency needed, FDA Commissioner Andrew von Eschenbach said he would "welcome an opportunity to present a scenario of portfolio options" for financing.
