Bill seeks to overturn Medicare payment cuts for osteoporosis test

A bill has been introduced in Congress that would overturn the cuts in Medicare reimbursements for dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry used in the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis. The Medicare Fracture Prevention and Osteoporosis Testing Act of 2009 has the support of the DXA Task Force, which includes the National Osteoporosis Foundation and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.
