Before the economic crisis, it was routine for large firms to send executives to expensive off-site training programs. But now? While companies still want to develop the abilities of their leaders, observers say, they're saving money by bringing the experts to them. "Companies are asking for external experts to come in and do something very specific," says Josh Brand, a former senior director of executive education at Babson College.
