Fed seeks ways to add transparency to lending programs

The Federal Reserve is taking a hard look at steps to boost transparency for its emergency lending programs that aim to restore liquidity to the U.S. financial system, including regular news conferences and disclosure of collateral being held, sources said. Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke asked Vice Chairman Donald Kohn to head a committee responsible for evaluating ways to make the central bank's actions more open.
