U.S. retail sales slip, break 2-month upturn

After two months of modestly good news, U.S. retailers reported a 1.1% drop in sales in March, chilling hopes of a swift recovery led by consumer spending. The total figure for retail sales was dragged down by particularly weak sales of big-ticket products such as electronics and cars, the Commerce Department said.
