FCC head defends broadband plan, oversight ability

FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski told a Senate committee Wednesday his agency has the jurisdiction to regulate broadband policy regarding Internet access despite a federal court ruling that appeared to strike down the FCC's ability to do so. At that hearing, Senate Commerce Committee Chairman John Rockefeller, D-W.Va., said he was ready to rewrite telecom laws in the wake of the court ruling.
