The IAB, working with the Network Advertising Initiative, has released a set of voluntary guidelines for marketers and ad networks to advise users of targeting practices on their sites. The standards, called Control Links for Education and Advertising Responsibly, or CLEAR, Ad Notice Technical Specifications, will be used to trigger a standardized "i" icon when users are being targeted. "We are beginning to revolutionize the way data is delivered to consumers for behavioral advertising," said Mike Zaneis, vice president of public policy for the IAB. "The entire industry will now provide real-time in-ad notice to consumers."
