IOM workshop report: Nurses need more time with patients

A summary report on a nursing workshop held as part of an Institute of Medicine initiative found new strategies are needed so nurses can provide higher quality patient care. The report said nurses spend too much time on administrative duties and not enough time with patients, even though they are the front line for reducing medical errors and improving outcomes.
