Leapfrog 2009 hospital survey shows some quality gains

The 2009 hospital survey by the Leapfrog Group found quality of care improved in some areas, but officials said it remains below expectations. Data showed 57% of surveyed hospitals met standards for pneumonia treatment, an increase from 34% in 2008, while 53.5% hit the mark for heart bypass surgery, up from 43%.
