NYC teachers, mayor agree to end "rubber rooms"

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the city's teachers union have agreed to several changes regarding the disciplinary process governing teacher firings and misconduct charges. So-called "rubber rooms" -- where teachers were sent while drawing full salaries but doing no work -- will be done away with, and teachers will be assigned nonclassroom work. The time allotted for misconduct investigations will also be shortened.
