Volcanic ash disrupts flights in Europe as airports, airspace close

Volcanic ash spreading from Iceland is clouding the skies across much of Northern Europe, disrupting air travel across Europe, and affecting flight plans worldwide. Authorities shut down airspace to all non-emergency flights in Britain, Ireland and Scandinavia as of Thursday morning, with no indication yet when airspace would reopen.
