AAR: Intermodal, freight traffic edge higher

Freight carload and intermodal traffic rose on major U.S. railroads in the week ended April 9. The Association of American Railroads reported carloads up 1.8% and intermodal traffic up 12.4% compared to the year-ago period. Shipments of metallic ores, grains and motor vehicles helped drive the growth.
