Geriatric animal population challenges Honolulu Zoo

Zoo animals are getting better care and living longer than any time in history, which means collections such as the one at the Honolulu Zoo wind up with a fair share of older animals. As with human geriatric patients, the animals present a host of age-related challenges that keep zookeepers on their toes, including kidney disease, arthritis and cataracts.
