Japanese consumers return to online shopping

Gilt Japan's flash-fashion site reported one of its busiest sales weekends since the March 11 earthquake and tsunami, as consumers clamored for bargain-priced luxury goods. Online shoppers are returning to the Web as an alternative to venturing out to brick-and-mortar stores, many of which have cut back their hours, for everything from necessities such as bottled water to a $14,280 necklace on Gilt.
