U.N.'s Global Compact on CSR grows rapidly

One consequence of the global economic recession has been a corporate focus on "doing well by doing good," this article says. One example is the U.N. Global Compact 11 years after its establishment: It has become the world's largest corporate social responsibility initiative, involving 6,300 companies, writes Ju Chul-ki, vice president and secretary-general of the Global Compact Korea Network. The compact covers areas such as human and labor rights, the environment and anti-corruption initiatives.
