Union Pacific's $400 million intermodal project in Santa Teresa, N.M., is expected to have a positive impact on local business. "It's magnificent, the size of the construction site," said Bill Mattiace, executive director of the New Mexico Border Authority. "To see 2,200 acres transformed into a rail yard (will be) amazing." Construction is being done by 170 workers onsite daily, and approximately 5.9 million yards have been excavated with the project slated for completion by 2015.
