The U.S. firm CourseSmart is launching in the United Kingdom and intends to make 7,000 electronic textbooks available by September for students to rent for six months or more. The service also allows students to take notes in their e-books and save their work online. "It's like a locker based system. You rent the book and can keep it in one of our online 'lockers' so students don't have to have the responsibility of storing it themselves," said Fionnuala Duggan, who oversees the U.K. business.
