China's flagging economy and a plunge in gold prices hammered mining shares in Europe, with markets generally finishing the day lower and the Stoxx Europe 600 easing 0.67% to 290.43. U.S. stocks began the day on a downward track due to the Chinese data but then dropped amid reports of deadly explosions at the Boston Marathon. The S&P 500 ended 2.30% lower at 1,552.36.
