Kobo debuts high-res e-reader and prepares to open app store

Rakuten-owned Kobo has launched Aura HD, a limited-edition, high-resolution e-reader that sells for $169.99 and has a 6.8-inch screen, 4 gigabytes of storage and a two-month battery life. The company also announced a plan to introduce an application store this year. "We plan to expand from books into magazines and kids' content, but we're not going to do exactly what others do in the market," Kobo CEO Michael Serbinis said.
