Patient portals can satisfy MU goals, engage patients

Providers can use patient portals to satisfy the requirements for meaningful use stage 2 while encouraging patients to be involved in their care, according to Dr. Ed Fotsch, CEO of PDR Network. Fotsch discusses four steps that hospital leaders should follow to ensure that the online tool will help them achieve these objectives, such as educating eligible providers about the new MU measures and selecting an EHR system with proactive patient portal services.
