Type 1 diabetes study looks at vitamin D metabolism, atherosclerosis

Low concentrations of vitamin D metabolites did not appear to increase the risk of subclinical atherosclerosis in patients with type 1 diabetes, researchers wrote in Diabetes Care. Lower concentrations were linked to a reduced prevalence and severity of coronary artery calcium in patients.
