Analysis: Dodd-Frank Act regulation makes no sense for insurance

Putting insurance companies under Dodd Frank-type regulations poses substantial risks for consumers, writes Ben Nelson, CEO of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. "Banking regulations are designed for bankers, not insurers," he notes. "Applying federal bank standards to insurance companies will be costly and provide no additional protection, and worse, might actually offer less security."
