Report: Insurers' Q1 underwriting results are likely to be favorable

Underwriting results for the first quarter are likely to be favorable for most property/casualty insurers even though the U.S., Japan and areas in Europe experienced severe winter weather, according to a Keefe, Bruyette & Woods report. Insurers' earnings could fall, however, in part because a high level of supply is dampening pricing, KBW said.
