Some hotels drop employee name badges to improve customer service

Hospitality businesses including Edition Hotels and Hyatt's Andaz hotels are eschewing name badges for employees to help foster a closer relationship between employee and guest by making interactions seem less formal. "We didn't want the stilted awkwardness of 'look, I work here, I'm taking care of you because that's what it says on my badge I do,' " said hotelier Tim Miller, who worked on creating the Edition brand.
